Iris L. Ziniel, 90, Mandan, passed away September 13, 2016 at Sanford Continuing Care Center on Sunset in Mandan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Selva Periannan as celebrant. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Iris was born on November 24, 1925 to Fred and Maria (Schulz) Frederick in Mandan, ND. She was raised and educated in the rural Mandan area. Iris married Clarence Ziniel on June 4, 1959 in Mandan. Iris was a homemaker and was devoted to her family. Iris maintained a large garden that provided fresh vegetables to neighbors, family and friends for decades. She enjoyed baking and canning fresh garden vegetables. She worked at the Coop Grocery Store in Mandan for 5 years and at Cloverdale for 12 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Iris will be deeply missed by her son, Joe, Schamburg, Ill and 2 sisters-in-law, Laurayne Miska, Mandan, ND and Irene Baer, Mandan, ND.
Iris was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Clarence who died in 2009; 7 sisters, Evelyn Bardsley, Mildred Graf, Ruby, Wenger, Ozella Dietz, Esther Walker, Ruth Keller and Erma Walker and 1 brother, Leo Frederick.
