Helen E. Miller, 76, Mandan, died September 25, 2013 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 30, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery following the funeral service.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Parish Vigil at 5:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Helen was born on February 4, 1937 to Lawrence and Rose (Schaff) Tschida in Mandan, ND she was raised in the Huff area until moving to Bismarck at the age of 16 when she started working at St. Alexius. She married Francis Miller on July 24, 1956 in Bismarck, ND. Helen was a very reserved and gentle woman by nature but enjoyed visiting with friends and family; she was always the caregiver of her family and took care of her Mother and other family members. Her home and children were always central in her life, she took great pride in her baking, especially cinnamon rolls and German recipes, gardening, canning, sewing and giving her dog Buddy his daily walk.
She and Frank enjoyed vacationing with friends and occasional trips to the casino, bowling in a league and spending time in Wisconsin at their son's hobby farm.
Helen will be deeply missed by daughter, Deborah (Allan) Dykshoorn, Mandan; son, Duane (Sally) Frederic, WI; grandchildren, Audra and Christopher (Micki) Dykshoorn, Jeri (Peter) Scherer, Stephanie (Lance) Williamson, Ryan Rose and Katie Rose along with 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Lawrence) Everson, Agnes Schumacher, Rose Tschida, and Elizabeth Peterson; brothers, Frank Tschida, Leo (Betty) Tschida and Gabe (Carleen) Tschida; sisters-in-law, Marleen Tschida and Karen Tschida along with many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Francis in 2007; parents and brothers, Mike, Dan, and Joe.
