Harlan Duane Werner, 81, passed away on February 12, 2024.
The Celebration of Life Service will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. Burial will follow at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.
Harlan was born on November 10, 1942, to Henry J. & Emma (Fuchs) Werner in Elgin, ND. He was raised on the family farm located south of Carson.
Harlan married Mary Pfau on June 22, 1963, in Flasher, ND. They lived and worked on the family farm where they milked cows, raised beef cattle, and farmed. In the early 1970’s, Harlan purchased his first semi-truck and started hauling grain and cattle for neighbors for many years. He also did corn chopping for others for many years. Eventually, he and Mary moved to Mandan where they lived out the rest of their days.
Harlan loved to fish and hunt when he could. He was also an avid card player. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
Harlan is survived by his children, MaryJane (Lynn) Davis and John (Violet) Werner; son-in-law, Tom Edinger; granddaughters, Christa, and Stefanie Davis and Veronica; great-grandchildren, Devon, Lucas, and Sloane; brother, Marvin (Pat) Werner; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; daughter, Rose Edinger; and parents, Henry J. & Emma Werner.
Harlan’s family would like to thank all relatives, friends, and neighbors who sent cards, brought food, and came to the house. The family would also like to thank all those that helped with services and other preparations for Harlan.
