Gladys was born November 20, 1935, to Joseph and Catherine (Hopfauf) Erhardt in New Salem. She attended country school through the 8th grade. On June 25, 1956, Gladys married Leo P. Leingang in New Salem. The two made their home on his family farm in St. Anthony. Gladys worked side by side with Leo on their dairy farm and she did most of the milking. In 1990 the couple retired and moved to Mandan.
Gladys was a fantastic seamstress and cook, skills she enjoyed passing on to her grandchildren. She was famous in her neighborhood for her German potato salad. Gladys loved being a grandma and she and Leo enjoyed taking the grandkids camping and fishing. These were some of her most treasured times. Gladys’ faith was very important to her and she was active in St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.
Gladys is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Shelly Leingang, St. Anthony; her grandchildren, Chad Leingang (special friend, Mariah Green) and LaKeisha Leingang (special friend, Cody Johnson); brothers, Mark (Joey) Erhardt, New Salem and Marvin (Carol) Erhardt, Bismarck.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, in May 2020; her parents; and her sister and brother-in-law, Rosalee (Kenneth) Mosbrucker.
