George Magilke, 93, Bismarck, died April 11, 2016 at Baptist Health Care in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 pm followed by a Parish Vigil. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
George was born on January 2, 1923 to Matt and Magdalena (Martin) Magilke in Morton County, ND he was raised and educated in the Solen area. He worked for various farmers before going to South Dakota where he worked in the gold mines. When he returned to Mandan he became the owner/operator of B & M Auto Parts which he did for 25 years. He then went to work for Kist Livestock. George did enjoy fishing, playing cards especially, whist and pinochle, his favorite saying whether he was playing cards or fishing was “Well I’ll Be”. He had a strong work ethic and was gentle in nature with a dry sense of humor, he was always calm and never spoke a curse word.
George will be deeply missed by sisters, Eva Leingang, Bismarck, ND, Maggie (Alphonse) Fleck, Mandan, ND and Veronica Beckler, Mandan, ND; brothers, Matt (Caroline), Bismarck ND and Tom (Mona) Bismarck, ND; sister-in-law, Helen Magilke, Lincoln, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Magdalena; sisters, Francis (Ed) Grotberg, Regina (Milton) (Tom Tibbets) Bacon, Tillie (Warren) Gullickson and infant sister, Kathryn; brothers, John, Martin and infant brother, Joseph; brothers-in-law, Ralph Leingang and Leonard Beckler.
