George R. Ferderer, 93, Mandan, died August 19, 2015 at his residence in Mandan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 24, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Bismarck AMVETS Post #9.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 pm followed by a parish vigil.
George was born on March 7, 1922 to Ralph and Margaret (Hoffman) Ferderer in Mandan, ND. He was raised and educated in the rural Mandan area. George was a member of the United States Army and was a World War II Veteran. He met Ludmilla T. Fleck which was love at first sight, then married on October 15, 1946 and lived on a family farm where they raised their 6 children.
George was a hardworking and dedicated farmer retiring after 40 years on the farm. He loved the outdoors and was an avid birdwatcher. He was a jack of all trades and made many bird houses; his passion for life was never greater than when watching nature. George was an avid reader, he enjoyed playing pinochle, square dancing with Ludmilla, traveling and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. George was well known for his letters to the Editor in the Bismarck Tribune, the letters were always sure to cause a lively debate. Above all his family was central in his life; George enjoyed family get together and holidays.
George will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 68 years Ludmilla, Mandan, ND; daughers, Virginia (Victor) Wingerter, Bismarck, ND, Lucilda (Bruce) Herman, Bismarck, ND and Violet (Darryl) Landies, Mandan, ND; sons, Patrick (Bonnie) Ferderer, Bismarck Robert (Jane) Ferderer and George (Victoria) Ferderer, Jr. of Mandan, ND; 14 grandchildren, Vance (Shelley) Wingerter, Vanessa (Matt) Taylor, Todd (April) Ferderer, Scott (Katie) Ferderer, Ryan Ferderer, Tina (Rick) Block, Denise (Norm) Clark, Bob (Natalie) Ferderer, Mike (Dana) Herman, Tyler (Karissa) Herman, Jake (Kylie) Landies, Emmy Lou Landies, Matt (Kris) Ferderer and Lydia Ferderer; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Erhardt, Center, ND; sisters-in-law, Clara Ferderer, Mandan, ND and Irene Ferderer, Mandan, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Abigail Ferderer; sisters, Eva Weber and Margie Hopfauf; brothers, Bill Ferderer and Roy Ferderer and brothers-in-law, Max Erhardt, Joe Weber and Jack Hopfauf.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to a charity of the donors choice.
