Gary Ressler

Gary L. Ressler, 73, Bismarck formerly of Mandan died September 4, 2015 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Christopher Kadrmas as celebrant. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Mandan VFW Post #707 and American Legion Post #40.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a St. Anthony Verein Rosary at 6:15 pm, a Men of the Moose Ritual at 6:30 pm followed by a Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Gary was born on June 2, 1942 to Anton and Magdaline (Steckler) Ressler in Mandan, ND. He was raised in the St. Anthony area and attended country farm school through the 8th grade. Gary joined the Army National Guard in December 1962 and served 6 years being honorable discharged in April 1968. After his term in the service he became a heavy equipment operator for Empire Sand and Gravel, Billings, Montana.

Gary was an active person who enjoyed traveling and visited many places including the Bahama’s, Hawaii and California and he enjoyed driving his motorcycle through the mountains of Montana. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, camping, riding motorcycle and snowmobiling. Gary was a member of Local #400, Mandan Eagles, Mandan Moose and the St. Anthony Verein Rosary Group along with ABATE Motorcycle Club.

Gary will be deeply missed by his brothers, Terron (Beckie) Ressler and Keith (Debbie) Ressler both of Mandan and sister, Caroline Vaughn, Hemit, CA along with 7 nieces, nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Magdaline Ressler and an infant sister; brother-in-law, Dean Vaughn.
