Fred was born on October 18, 1931, to Rueben and Emma (Roth) Jahraus in Glen Ullin, ND. He was raised and educated in the Glen Ullin area. He married Dianna Kuntz on June 6, 1955. The couple had 3 daughters and 4 sons. Fred loved his family. He also was a devoted husband, even after Dianna’s death on January 31, 2003. He often went to the cemetery in remembrance of his wife.
Fred was a hard-working family man. He worked as an A/C Transit bus driver, a construction worker, and a handyman. He had a delightful sense of humor and enjoyed old-time music – especially polkas. Fred and Dianna attended many craft fairs throughout ND, showing their floral and woodwork creations. In addition to being an avid fan of Fox News, Fred loved watching his grandsons’ baseball games.
Fred will be deeply missed by his daughters, LaDora (Tim) Vollan of Fairfield, CA, Jackie (Terry) Harm of Mandan, ND; sons, Darvin Jahraus, Gregory (Sherri) Jahraus, both of Mandan, and Fred (Greta) Jahraus, Jr., of Olathe, KS; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sisters Betty Oster, Sun Lake, AZ, Genevieve (George) Kuntz, Missoula, MT, and Grace (John) Schneider of Hayden, Idaho; and his brother Ronald (Joann) Jahraus of Prescott, AZ.
Fred was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Ruben and Emma; his beloved wife, Dianna; an infant daughter, Renae; a son, Randy; a brother-in-law, Vernon Oster, brothers, Gary, Kenneth, Virgil, Eugene, Floyd, and Duane, and two infant babies, Roy and Willis.
In lieu of flower the family request memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church Trust Fund.
