Frank M. Kuntz

Frank “Francis” M. Kuntz, 79, of Mandan, ND passed away March 11, 2024 at Sanford Health in Bismarck following a short illness.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 PM Friday, March 15^th at the Church of St. Joseph in Mandan.  Burial will follow in Mandan Union Cemetery.   A Rosary & Prayer Service will be held at 5:00 PM Thursday at Weigel Funeral Home followed by visitation until 7:30 PM.  

Frank was born March 28, 1944 in Bismarck, ND to Frank & Ida (Schaff) Kuntz.   He was raised in the Solen, ND area where he attended school.   He served in the US Army for 4 years.  In 1963, he married the love of his life, Sharon Ann Gangl.   They lived in California for several years returning to North Dakota in 1969.  Frank was employed as a Local Union carpenter working jobs in the upper Midwest along with owning his own construction business.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, making sausage, and spending time with his family and friends.  In recent years, Frank enjoyed FaceTime calls with his family members out of state.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Mandan;  son, Mike (Karen) Kuntz of Nocona, TX; & one daughter, Bonnie Kuntz (Wes Vietz) of Mandan;  5 grandchildren, Michael (Kari) Kuntz, Cassey (Tanner) Henry, Shelby (Juan) Herrera, Jacob (Shannon) Willer, & Amanda (Jason) Lantz;  12 great grandchildren, MJ, Dylan, Suri, Makenna, Saddey, Gunner, Emrynne, Jax, Gabe, Annabelle, Jameson, & Evelyn;  one brother, Christian (Susan) Kuntz;  one sister, Lorraine Kuntz;  numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers (3 whom were infants), and 3 sisters.
