Frances Thomas, 96, Mandan, died July 7, 2014 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at St. Joseph Church, Mandan, ND with Msgr Chad Gion as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery at 11:30 am after the service.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Frances was born October 26, 1917 to Raphael and Rose Schaff of Flasher, North Dakota whom she took care of before she married. After marrying Phil Thomas in 1939, they lived on the Little Sullivan Ranch for six years. After they moved to Mandan she did housekeeping and babysitting throughout the years.
Frances liked to garden, can vegetables and fruit. She also enjoyed word search puzzles, Pinochle and playing bingo at the Senior Center. Frances loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. She was an honorary member of Mandan Golden Age a member of the Mandan Eagles, St. Maria Verein and Rosary Societies. She was very dear to all of those who knew her, she prayed the Rosary for all of her loved ones, always remembering the anniversary of their deaths when she prayed. She faithfully watched the Mass services on EWTN.
Frances will be deeply missed by daughter Rose Ann Thomas, son Eugene Thomas, and her sister-in-law, Maggie Schaff.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Phil Thomas in 2001 and her son Ted in 2008. Also by her sisters Carolyn (Adolph) Rash-Lang, Emma (Bernard) Vetter, Florentine Schaff and Elizabeth Schaff; brothers, Steve (Julia), Adam, Tony, and Lenus.
