Florence Ferderer, 93, Mandan, passed away December 23, 2024, at Elm Crest Manor Nursing Home, New Salem.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 3, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with Fr. Josh Waltz celebrating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, 1701 Sunset Drive, with a Parish Rosary & Vigil at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Florence was born June 14, 1931, to Pete and Mary (Doll) Schaner at Crown Butte, ND, where she was raised and educated. On November 6, 1950, she married Emil Ferderer at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Crown Butte. Florence spent 38 years farming and raising cattle with Emil northeast of New Salem until his death in 1988.
Florence later moved into Mandan and enrolled in classes to receive her personal care attendant certificate and went to work for Hit Inc. She also worked part time for Benedictine Healthcare and volunteered for MedCenter One Mandan. She was a blood donor for United Blood Service and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed the sport of bowling and was incredibly good at it so she joined a bowling league. Florence also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, traveling, listening to old time music, and dancing.
Florence married Elmer Job on October 25, 1991. They purchased a Scampi camper and did some traveling. Elmer died on September 15, 2010.
Blessed to have shared in her life are her four children, James Ferderer, Mandan, Tom (Cherie) Ferderer, Mandan, Jeanette (Jim) Schaff, New Salem, and Jeri (Shannon) Boehm, Bismarck; eleven grandchildren, Cassandra (Brendan) Plunkett, Jacob Boehm, Christine Ferderer, Angela (Charlie) Diggins, & Ariel Ferderer, Justin (Leanne) Ferderer, Wyatt (Nikki) Ferderer, Cale (Anna) Ferderer, Nolan Ferderer (special friend, Tanya), Jenna (Adam) Koch, and Justine Schaff; great grandchildren, Vincent Plunkett, Romee Ferderer, Tuker Heil, Jax Berger, and Magnolia Ferderer; great-great grandchild, Rowan Thomas Ferderer; two sisters, Margaret (Frank) Sturn, New Salem and Evelyn Kraft, Mandan; and three brothers, Vern (Shirley) Schaner, Mandan, Bill (Rita) Schaner, Mandan, and Pete (Geraldine) Schaner, Bismarck.
Florence was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Emil and Elmer; her parents; brother, Mike Schaner; and daughter-in-law, Marla Ferderer.
