Evelyn Jacob

Evelyn Jacob, age 78, passed away August 2, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society - Miller Pointe, Mandan, ND. A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024 at St. Phillp Catholic Church, Wibaux, MT at 11 a.m. (MST)/12 p.m. (CST). Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Evelyn Francine (Bobiney) Jacob was born in Beach, ND on January 30, 1946, to Stanley and Stella (Nahajewski) Bobiney. She grew up in rural eastern Montana, near Carlyle. She enjoyed her pet fawn and raising sheep. Evelyn attended grade school in rural Wibaux County, Montana and Golva, ND. She graduated from Annunciation Priory High School, Bismarck, ND in 1964. She received an Associate of Arts Degree in 1967 from Bismarck Junior College.

On November 18, 1967 Evelyn Bobiney and Romanus (Ray) Jacob were married at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bismarck, ND. They settled on a farm SW of Linton, ND. With this union they had 6 wonderful children; Michael, Karen, Valerie, Kevin, Maria and Alan. They were members of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg, ND and later, St. Anthony Catholic Church, Linton. 

Evelyn enjoyed being a full-time homemaker and mother and enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed reading, praying, watching TV, writing letters to the editor, making creative hand-made cards, especially for her grandchildren for every birthday and holiday and sending numerous notes and cards to her family and friends. Her Catholic faith was very important, she enjoyed being a CCD teacher, a lector in church and prayer groups.

Evelyn moved to Linton in 1989. In 1996, she moved to Bismarck. She was employed with Dan's Supermarket for 7 years. She enjoyed her time with sales in the deli department, and loved it when she was able to demo food products, and greet the general public. In Bismarck, Evelyn's favorite activities were prayer group, playing with her grandchildren and swimming at the YMCA. She was a member of Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, ND.

Evelyn is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law; Michael and Katrina Jacob, Kevin (special friend Kari Isaacs) Jacob and Alan Jacob. Three daughters and sons-in-laws Karen and Bill Kershaw, Valerie and Seth Vinchattle, Maria and Cort Malmedal. 13 grandchildren Clay, Logan, McKenzie & Ryan Jacob, Karlie (Brett Lyman), Carter (Claire Ryberg) & Trevor (Mariah Trangsrud) Kershaw, Zane Vinchattle, Kennedy, Alison & Bennett Jacob, Cady & Owen Malmedal. Four great-grandchildren Landon & Ella Lyman, and Kaylani & Genevieve Jacob. Two sisters Betty Goroski, Wahpeton, Marlene Kutzler, Missoula, MT. One brother Donald (Merrily) Bobiney, Cheyenne, WY. A special niece Michelle Kutzler, Glendive, MT, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents and one brother Richard Bobiney, Miles City, MT.
