Elizabeth Weinhandl

October 19, 1925 — February 17, 2015

Elizabeth “Betty”, 89, Mandan, died February 17, 2015 due to an aneurysm at Stanford Health in Bismarck, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, February 23, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 5:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Betty was born on October 19, 1925 to Nick and Rose (Wetsch) Berger in St. Anthony, ND. She was raised and educated in St. Anthony. Betty married Richard Weinhandl on June 11, 1945 also in St. Anthony. They owned Weinhandl Trucking for 30 years before retirement. Betty did housecleaning for many people for 51 years.

Betty and Richard loved to go on bus tours with their friends throughout the country, visiting many areas. Betty will be remembered for her beautiful embroidered dish cloths and wonderful baby quilts. She enjoyed holidays with her family. Betty was a talented cook and 2 of her family’s favorites were cheese buttons and choke cherry jelly.

Betty will be deeply missed by her children, Shirley (LeRoy) Kary, Bismarck, LaVerne (Rodney) Knoll, Mandan, Dick, Jr. (Teresa), Solen, ND and Doug, Mandan; grandchildren, Pam(friend, Scott Graff) Berg, Betty Jo (Brian) Hartman, Rob (Carmen) Knoll, Keith ( friend, Deanna Rude) Kary and Machelle Knoll; 6 great-grandchildren, Brittany Schlosser, Shelby Hartman, Kaden Knoll, Michael Berg, Weston Hartman and Karlie Knoll and 1 great-great-grandchild, Camden Schlosser.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard on August 11, 2010; brothers, Joseph Berger, Henry Berger, Frank Berger and Adam Berger; sisters, Rose Berger, Tillie Bender, Katie Bender and Clara Zander.

Betty’s family wants to thank, all the wonderful care she received at Edgewood Vista, Maple View Memory Care and Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.
