Elizabeth “Lizzy” Gangl, 94, Mandan, died October 19, 2014 at Sanford Continuing Care Center off Collins in Mandan, ND.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Christopher Kadrmas as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Anthony Cemetery in St. Anthony, ND at a later date.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home; with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Elizabeth was born on July 15, 1920 to Florian and Audenia (Wetzstein) Hilfer in
St. Anthony, ND. She was raised and attended school in St. Anthony. On October 30, 1946 she married Henry “Jack” Gangl at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, ND. Henry and Elizabeth raised their son Ron on the family farm in the Solen area and it is where Ron still lives today. Being a farm and ranch wife and mother was a way of life for Lizzy. She was a kind and generous woman that worked hard alongside her husband to provide for her family. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and watching her grandchildren.
Lizzy will be deeply missed by her son, Ronald (Judy) Gangl, Solen, ND; grandchildren Holly, Monte (Michelle); sisters-in-law, Barbara Hilfer, Betty Hilfer and Noreen Hilfer along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Lizzy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; brothers and sisters-in-law, Adam (Mary), Tony, John, George, Casper, Mike (Elsie), Phillip (Ann) and Frank (Rose); sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Tony Hertz; infant sisters Margreta and Maria and one infant grandson, Kelly.
