Edward J. Fleck, 75, Maple Grove, MN formerly of Mandan died August 3, 2015 at his residence in Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Christopher Kadrmas as celebrant. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Mandan VFW Post #707 and American Legion Post #40.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 10, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, with a Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Ed was born on March 9, 1940 to Joseph and Minnie (Schmidt) Fleck in Solen, ND. He was raised and educated in the Solen area. In 1958 he moved to Mandan and served in the National Guard. Ed returned to North Dakota and worked construction on missile sites in North and South Dakota he also gold mined in South Dakota before returning to North Dakota. He married Marlene Berger on June 4, 1962 in Fallon, ND. They moved to Deadwood, SD before moving to Minnesota in 1967. He worked for Garlock Roofing and worked his way up to Vice President of Operations after his retirement from Garlock Roofing he found his true passion by becoming a self-employed handyman.
Ed appreciated nature, he loved to garden and fish. He was a Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan and enjoyed following these teams. He liked puzzles and board games and dancing the polka and waltz. Ed was a true American he was very patriotic and taught his children the true meaning of being and American. His family was important to him and he loved his children and grandchildren.
Ed will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Marlene, Maple Grove, MN; Rhonda (Steve) Jennings, Eden Prairie, MN and Robyn (Jonathan) Olsen, Maple Grove, MN; sons, Daniel, Montecello, MN and David, Maple Grove, MN; 3 grandchildren, Nigel, Jordan and Jaden; sisters, Marlene (Ken) Brilz, San Pablo, CA, Rose (Jack) Schutt, Beulah, ND, Ilene (Bob) Meyer, Lincoln, ND, Sally (Wayne) Geiss, Hawley, MN, Kathleen (Don) Erhardt, Mandan, ND, Veronica (Dennis) Erhardt, Mandan, ND and Betty (Bob) Thompson, Mandan, ND; brothers, Clarence (Adeline), Mandan, ND, Alphonse (Maggie), Mandan, ND and Mike (Nancy), Flasher, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
