Duane "Bud" Carrier, 81, of Bismarck, died Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at CHI St. Alexius. Graveside service with military honors will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 23, 2024 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Mandan. There will be no visitation or prayer service in accordance with his wishes.
Bud was born on October 3, 1943 in Huff, North Dakota to Isadore and Florina (Dame) Carrier. He grew up in Mandan and enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17. He served aboard the USS Suffolk County (LST-1173) from 1960 until 1964 earning and honorable discharge.
Returning home to North Dakota, Bud married Patricia "Pat" Ann Bailey on October 23, 1965. They were blessed with 2 children: Shelly in 1966 and Bill in 1967.
Bud worked for Gun City where he developed many friendships with his customers. When Gun City closed Bud went to work at Prairie Knights Casino for 15 years before retiring.
Bud enjoyed hunting, talking about hunting and guns; with lots of conversations about guns. Bud would tell great stories, most were hilarious and left his friends and family listening and ready to hear the next one.
Bud is survived by his daughter, Shelly (Tony) Grimes of Hutchinson, KS and son Bill (Arisa) Carrier of Pattaya, Thailand; 7 grandchildren: Amber, Debbie, Victoria, Kim, Amanddaa, Andrew and William; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine (Gordon) Bopp of New Salem; brothers: Rich (Marilyn) Carrier of Bismarck and Dale (Pam) Carrier of Fargo and special niece, Gretchen (Virgil) Vetter of Bismarck along with several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; parents; brother, Leonard and sister Annabelle "Frenchy".
Memorials are suggested to benefit the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
The family has requested NO FLOWERS please. Memorials are preferred to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
