Douglas "Doug" N. Ostrom, 91 passed away at his home peacefully December 27, 2024, in Apache Junction, AZ.
Graveside service with military honors will be held 2:00 P.M., January 10, 2025, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
Doug was born in Minot, North Dakota to Leonard and Marjorie Ostrom, he was the eldest of three sisters and one brother. Doug grew up working long hours on the family's cattle ranch in Kief, North Dakota and graduated high school in Turtle Lake, class of 1951.
He joined the Army in 1954, serving during the Korea War, he was stationed at Fort Belvor in Alexandria, Virginia and worked as a personal accountant keeping track of the Army personnel. He met Janette McCarty at a Saturday night dance on base and the couple were married at the Washington Cathedral in DC in 1956. Doug was honorably discharged in 1956, and they moved to the cattle ranch for a short period before landing in Great Falls, Mt. It was in Great Falls where his two children, Warren Ostrom and Barbara Schwalbe were born.
The family moved to Spokane, Washington in 1965 where Doug worked for MCCullum Ford and began his career in Auto and RV Sales. He later moved to San Diego and finally Apache Junction, AZ where he owned and ran his RV business. He continued his hard working habits and his love to "wheel and deal" until his death in December.
Doug is survived by his two children, five grandchildren, and two great -grandchildren, and proceeded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, a grandson and a great granddaughter.
