Douglas Hermes

**Due to winter weather advisory, the funeral mass of Douglas Hermes has been postponed to 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 2, 2023**

Doug Hermes, 59, of Glen Ullin, N.D., walked home to be with his Lord on Feb. 25, 2023. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. with Father Gary Benz as officiant. Burial to be held in spring. 

Doug was born to Walter and Alice (Mosbrucker) Hermes on June 13, 1963. Doug was the youngest of seven siblings, and was adored by his family as "the baby." Doug felt most at peace outdoors. He loved to spend time on their family farm south of Glen Ullin hunting, fishing and searching the rock piles for petrified wood and arrowheads. He equally loved playing cards and butchering in the fall with his family where lots of laughs were shared over the years. 

Doug was known to many as someone who would "give you the shirt off his back." He was always willing to help anyone who needed it and was the go-to guy for all things landscaping.

Doug's greatest blessings in life were his daughters, Alyssa and Carli, whom he loved very much. His girls will miss him deeply. 

Doug is survived by his children and grandchildren: Alyssa (Chris) Gessele of Bismarck and Carli (James) Dravitz of Fargo, siblings: Diane McKiernan, Sandra Giroux, Christine Hermes-Parker, Duane Hermes, Rosemarie Kuntz and Gene Hermes, and four grandchildren: Cohen, Nash, Hayes and Jordan. He is preceded in death by his father Walter, mother Alice, and infant sister Gloria Ann.
