Dennis A. Bonogofsky, 37, of Shields, ND, died unexpectedly June 14, 2024, doing what he loved, watching over his cattle in his pasture filled with lush knee-high grass.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Flasher. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the church in Flasher with a Rosary/Vigil Prayer Service at 6 PM. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Dennis was born October 9, 1986, at the Mandan Hospital, the fourth and youngest son of Ronald and Karen (Ternes) Bonogofsky. He grew up south of Flasher and graduated as Salutatorian from Flasher High School in 2005. Dennis contemplated entering the priesthood, but his journey led him to Bismarck State College where he obtained an Associate’s degree in Agricultural Science. In 2008, his love for ranching and farming guided him back home and in 2013, at the age of 27, he purchased the family farm from his parents. Dennis took great pride in caring for his animals as he researched all of the latest animal conditions and treatments. Education was extremely important, not only with the care of animals, but also with farming and crop production. Dennis served on the NRCS board for several years.
Dennis was a man who had time for anyone who needed a hand or support. Whether it was attending his nieces and nephews sporting events, helping a niece proofread her science paper, or answer a nephew’s questions about raising bottle calves, he was there. Dennis was never one to ask for help, but was always so appreciative to receive help. His thank you’s were so sincere and from the heart. Even though he was the youngest brother, he was the big brother that his brothers always went to for advice or a listening ear. The loss of Dennis will leave a big hole in our hearts forever.
Dennis is survived by his parents, Ronald and Karen Bonogofsky; his brothers and their families, Art and Lisa and their children, Carter and Zach; Brad and Jennifer and their children, Jada, Justin, and Jory; and Chris and Cassandra and their children, Oliver and Emma; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Joe Bonogofsky and Ambrose and Theresea Ternes.
