Dawn L. Glatt, 82, Bismarck, died July 24, 2014 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 29 10, 2014 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, ND with Deacon Doyle Schultz officiating. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery following the funeral service.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 9:00 am -10:00 am at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, ND.
Dawn was born on October 12, 1931 to Alvin and Pauline (Cameron) Meldahl in Valley City, ND. She was raised and educated in Valley City attending elementary school at the Green School and graduating from Valley City High School. Dawn was an accomplished vocalist; she made her first public appearance at the age of 4. She sang for many weddings and funerals and wanted to major in vocal education before meeting Leo Glatt while he was attending Valley City State College. They were married on July 11, 1950 before Leo entered the military. When Leo was discharged they returned to Valley City and then moved to Sutton, ND where Leo was superintendent. They then moved to Tracy, CA. and later settled in Milpitas, CA. where they lived for 30 years. Dawn helped raise their children, worked as a bank teller and later for JC Penney’s for 23 years. Leo and Dawn moved back to Bismarck in 1998.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed biographies and stories about real people. Dawn enjoyed camping and summer trips with her family.
Dawn will be deeply missed by her daughters, Paulette (Ron) Crawford, Concord, CA. and Kathy (Tom) Kost, San Jose, CA; son, Dave (Debra) Glatt, Bismarck, ND; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Cherry (Jerry) Braunberger, Springfield, OR and sister-in-law, Nellie Mae Meldahl, CA.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo in 2011; sister, Joy (Bob) Brock and brother, Richard Meldahl.
Memorials may be sent to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
