Betty Wetsch

Elizabeth (Betty) Wetsch, 100, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Sunset Prospera in Mandan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher presiding. Burial will follow at Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM with a rosary and vigil service at 6 PM at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan.

Betty was born May 10, 1924 at Odense ND. She was the daughter of Fred and Pauline (Hatzenbuhler) Reisenauer. Betty was raised in Odense and graduated from a one room elementary country school. She and her family moved to Mandan in 1940. Betty completed her High School equivalency later at Mandan High School.

Betty married Frank Wetsch on November 14, 1945, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mandan. Frank and Betty owned and operated Circle Foods Grocery Store in Mandan along with the Wenzel and Minnie Cermak for 45 years. Betty worked alongside of Frank at the grocery store after her three boys started school.

Betty was a devout Catholic. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters for over 77 years! She was also a member of St. Joseph’s Circle and the Mandan Hospital Auxiliary.

Betty loved traveling, gardening and was such a wonderful cook. She especially loved baking goodies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her three sons and daughter-in-laws, Del (Viv) Wetsch, Mandan, Bob (Cheryl) Wetsch, Mandan and Allan (Cindy) Wetsch, Westminster, CO. Grandchildren, Jenny (Brian) Jessen, Bismarck and Jamie (Missy) Wetsch, Mandan. Great-grandchildren, Riley, Ryan and Austin Wetsch, and Kylee Jessen, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose (Tony) Pfau and Maggie (Hank) Goertzen.

Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mandan.
