Benny Mehlhoff

Benny Jewell Fred Mehlhoff, 70, passed away unexpectedly October 20, 2023, at his home in Tuttle, ND.

Benny was born July 23, 1953, in Hanau, Germany, to Arlin and Doris (Schilling) Mehlhoff. Benny at 10 months old along with his mother and sister arrived in the United States through Ellis Island. They took a train from New York to Bismarck and reunited with Arlin and this is when they made Tuttle their home.

Ben began school in Tuttle, ND, and finished his schooling in Odessa, Texas. Most of Ben’s life was between Tuttle, ND, and Odessa, Texas. Ben was a master carpenter and could build and fix just about anything.

Ben’s hobbies included fishing, Harley Davidson motorcycles, fishing, Litchenberg burning woodworking, fishing, telling stories, and even more fishing. Ben also played the banjo in his younger years. Ben was a member of the last few motorcycle club in Odessa, TX. Ben enjoyed riding with his brothers of the last few and spending time with his grandchildren.

Ben made one final move back to Tuttle in 2021 to be close to family.

Ben is survived by his children, Konny (Robert) Rundell of Fargo, ND, Bridget Mehlhoff of Bismarck, ND, Fredrick (Kristina) Mehlhoff of Mandan, ND, Amy (Zak) Gluyas of Custer, SD, Cherie (Wade) Turpin of Tucumari, NM, Holly Mehlhoff of Odessa, TX, and Laycie Mehlhoff of Odessa, TX; grandchildren, Trevor Allan, Nickolas, Brady, Cole, Matthew, Ella, Trevor Dean, Tanner, Justyne, Taya, Skyler, Tyler, Uriah, Cyrus, Nicholas, Jacob, Madalina, Adalina, Ragnar, Caylie, Kaycie, Kadence, and Ayra; great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Bryson, Harper, and Della; siblings, Doreen Holm of Tuttle, ND, Sharry (Randy) Kocevar of Wauwatosa, WI, Corinne Fitterer of Tuttle, ND, Mark (Sandy) Mehlhoff of Tuttle, ND, Dorothy (David) Fasulo of Bismarck, ND, and Marlene (Wade) Jasmann of Tuttle, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Arlin and Doris; sister, Darlene; two infant siblings; brother-in-law, Morris (Denny) Holm; nephew, James Steinhaus; and two great nephews, Tayton Fitterer and Jacob Fitterer.

A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date in Tuttle, ND. A celebration of life will also be held at the Last Few Clubhouse in Odessa, TX, on November 24-25, 2023.
