Barbara Schaff

Barbara was born November 30, 1931, in Almont, ND to Roy and Annie (Schaner) Doll. 

On November 13, 1951, she married Anton Schaff at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Glen Ullin. Barbara spent 25 years farming and raising cattle with her husband in St. Anthony, Towner and Steele where they raised their five children. After retiring from farming, they moved to Mandan in 1977 where she did all the painting and finish work in their home building business. In 1985, she worked as a bookkeeper at D&S Auto and Trailer Sales until she retired. 

Spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren was most important to Barbara and she often said they were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, playing cards, putting together puzzles, crocheting afghans for her family, singing, listening to old time music and dancing.

Barbara is survived by her five children, Sharon (Dwayne) Wahl, Bismarck, ND; Patrick (Loretta) Schaff, Towner, ND; David (Theresa) Schaff, Enumclaw, WA; Annette (Kenneth) Miller, Mandan, ND; and Diane (Tom) Sayles, San Antonio, TX; eleven grandchildren: Jackie (Steve) Larson, Minot, ND; Tracy (Mary) Schaff, Tacoma, WA; Brad (Tiffany) Schaff, North Mankato, MN; Jesse (Traci) Miller, St. Anthony, ND; Billy (Karmen) Wahl, Mandan, ND; Timothy (Mandy) Schaff, Buckley, WA; Jason (Kristen) Schaff, Grand Forks, ND; Wade (Dani) Miller, Bismarck, ND; Michael (Maria) Wahl, Ruther Glen, VA; Preston (Lauren) Wahl, Sugar Land, TX; and step-grandson, Blake Sayles, San Antonio, TX; 23 great-grandchildren, Taylor (fiancé Colten Haider) Best, Minot, ND; Keenan Best, Berthold, ND; Carter and Kate Schaff, North Mankato, MN; Quinn and Parker Schaff, Grand Forks, ND; Kalia, Kai, Kieran, and Karina Schaff, Buckley, WA; Eliza Schaff, Tacoma, WA; Colton, Mackenna and Garrett Miller, St. Anthony, ND; Wyatt and Killian Miller, Bismarck, ND; Ava, Mya, and Bear Wahl, Ruther Glen, VA; Scarlett and William Wahl, Mandan, ND; Murphy and Virginia Wahl, Sugar Land, TX; step-great grandson: Carter Sayles, San Antonio, TX; four sisters: Clara (Jim) Wetsch, Mandan, ND; Perpetua (Raymond) Hegel, Olympia, WA; Lucille (Jerome) Messer, Moses Lake, WA; Alice (Gary) Butler, Mandan, ND; sister-in-law; Janice (Leonard) Doll, DeSmet, SD; and brother, Leo (Rosaline) Doll, Glendive, MT. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Annie (Schaner) Doll; husband, Anton; her sisters: Delores Doll, Mary Emter Hintz; sister-in-law, Ann (Steve) Doll; her brothers: Leonard Doll, Steve Doll; brothers-in-law; Ray (Perpetua) Hegel, Jim (Clara) Wetsch, Gary (Alice) Butler, Jerome (Lucille) Messer, Mike Emter and Darrell (Mary) Hintz; her grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
