Audrey Pratschner
November 24, 1924 — July 8, 2016
Audrey Ruth Pratschner passed away peacefully on July 8, 2016 in Prescott, AZ. Joe and Audrey resided in the Mandan/Bismarck area for many years before moving to Prescott in 2010.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, ND with Rev. Walter Shott officiating. Immediately prior to the service will be a visitation at 10:00 am.
Inurnment will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 10:00 am.
Audrey was born on November 24, 1924 to Charles C. and Verna (Lentz) Lauther in Lebanon, PA. Verna passed away at a young age, and Charles married Virginia Funk, whom we all remember fondly as Virgie, Audrey’s stepmother.
Audrey attended dietetics school in Yonkers, NY. It was in New York that she met the love of her life, Joseph Pratschner, a handsome Navy pilot. Joe and Audrey were married on May 25, 1946, at the Naval Air Station, Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, New York. They returned to North Dakota, Joe’s home state, after he was discharged from the Navy.
Audrey was an excellent homemaker and mother and was certainly the best Christmas cookie maker! Her family was central in her life and she loved the time they spent together. She was also employed for many years at the Mandan Hospital, as a dietitian. One of the great joys of Audrey’s life was her close friends, and her wonderful bridge group. After her move to Prescott, it was her friends that she missed the most.
Audrey will be deeply missed by her daughters, Nancy Witt, San Jose, CA; Sue Foley (John), Sherwood , OR; Jackie Gallo (Roel), Prescott, AZ; and son, Steven (Kathi) Pratschner of Seattle, WA along with 8 grandchildren.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, and stepmother; husband, Joe and son-in-law Paul T. Witt.
As a special thank you, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Audrey’s name to the Welcome Home care home whose care and love will always be remembered and appreciated.
