Tony married the love of his life Gloria Jean Kopp on November 6, 1965. They made their home in Williston. He worked at various jobs before becoming a mechanic at Larson Motors. He worked for Larson’s until 1973 at which time he started Tony’s Equipment, Inc. the Allis Chalmers Farm Equipment dealership in Williston. During this time he enjoyed entertaining his customers by hosting and cooking BBQ’s and had a special grill made just for those occasions. In the 1990’s he stared Hamling Aquatic Farms where he raised tilapia fish in an indoor fish farm that he designed and built. The tilapia were shipped out live mostly to Toronto, Canada. Along with that he had two greenhouses where he grew tomatoes, cucumbers and various other vegetables which he would sell to local markets.
His later years were spent fighting Hemochromotosis a serious medical condition which eventually led to a liver transplant which Tony recovered from nicely, and then he was stricken with cancer a year after his transplant. He still was able to enjoy his gardening, working with wood and building various things especially scroll saw pictures. He loved hunting and fishing all his life and would exchange stories with anyone while he met his friends for coffee. He always had a smile or joke for you. With his background in mechanics, there was always someone asking how to fix things, which Tony gladly did, he would help who ever asked. In his younger days Tony enjoyed dancing. Lately he could be found every Saturday night sitting in front of the television tapping a foot to Polka Party on RFDTV. But most important of all was his family, he was a wonderful father to his son John and he was so filled with joy on the birth of his grandson, Corbin this year.
In 2012 Tony and Gloria moved to Bismarck where they enjoyed exploring the town and country side and trying all the restaurants around.
