Anne M. (Brown) Olsen, 108, was born in Prelate Sask. Canada to Martin and Frances (Helfrich) Brown. At an early age, Anne’s family, including eight siblings, moved to the U.S. and settled in Richardton, ND. Anne attended Beauty School in Bismarck and began her career until she met the love of her life, Chris Olsen. Shortly after courting, they married before Chris left to serve in the Navy in 1944. Upon Chris’ return, they made their home in Mandan and operated Western Auto Parts store on main street for 37 years.
The Olsen’s pride and joy were their two children, Glenda (Don) Vogel, Mandan, and Robert Olsen, Bismarck; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild! Anne was known for hosting family events, spoiling grand kids, shopping for everyone, and baking her special chocolate chip cookies. She loved her family and was always proud of them.
Some of Anne’s favorite memories involved her and Chris dancing every week, traveling to 48 states, and visiting their homelands of Norway and Canada. Chris passed after 47 years of marriage, and Anne kept busy with family, friends, and hobbies such as dancing, exercising, music, TV, scrapbooking, photography, and shopping. Anne loved life and aways kept on the go.
Anne believed in the power of prayer, which she practiced daily, and always remembered anyone in need. She was a member of Spirit of Life church, Catholic Daughters, and other clubs.
