Ann Gangl, 91, Mandan, died February 7, 2015 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Marv Klemmer as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 2:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Ann was born on August 17, 1923 to Alex and Frances (Lauinger) Leingang in Morton County, North Dakota. She married Frank Gangl on November 15, 1943 in St. Anthony, ND. Frank and Ann farmed south of St. Anthony, ND. Later they moved to Wilton where they operated Frank’s Bar, then moved to Regan and own Gangl’s Bar. Upon retirement Frank and Ann moved to Bismarck and did office cleaning at the Bureau of Reclamation.
Ann was an excellent cook and enjoyed making holiday meals. She also specialized in making borsht soup. She was an active person and enjoyed many things including fishing, playing bingo and pinochle, dancing and traveling, she went to Europe and took many trips with Frank. She enjoyed going on bus tours across the United States. Ann was able to drive until the age of 90, which was important to her. Her family was central in her life and she was always concerned for their wellbeing.
Ann will be deeply missed by her sons, Kenneth (Linda), Mandan, ND and James (Sue), Red Wing, MN; daughters, Sharon (Frank) Kuntz, Mandan and Jeannette (friend, Norman Fisher) Pohlman, Bismarck, ND; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great- grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren. Ann was eldest of 13 siblings, she is survived by sisters, Lorraine Heinert, California, Mary Heinert, Bismarck, ND, Abby Olson, Minot, ND, Delores Beehler, South Dakota and Stephanie Schwartz, Mandan, ND; brothers, George Leingang, Bismarck, ND and Eugene Leingang, California.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years, Frank who died in 1984; sisters, Frances Cornell and Stephanie Leingang; brothers, Tony Leingang, Frank Leingang, Clemence Leingang and Edward Leingang.
