Ann M. Bender, 81, passed away March 1, 2017 at Trinity Health Care in Minot, ND.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Ann was born on December 27, 1935 to Sebastian and Anna (Mitzel) Schumacher in Zeeland ND. She was raised and educated in the Napoleon ND area where she graduated from Napoleon High School. She then moved to Bismarck where she met Albert Bender who she married on September 15, 1956 in Bismarck ND. After Albert died she worked at Mandan Villa where she was honored as employee of the month which she was very proud of. She moved to Minot in 2009 where she lived at Dakota Terrace. In 2014 she moved to Edgewood Vista in Minot where she was at the time of her passing. She loved to play cards and Bingo. The prizes would go to the grandchildren. Family was central in her life especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These fond memories of Ann will always be cherished. Ann had a great sense of hospitality. People were always welcomed and she enjoyed sharing her baked and canned goods. She loved the Minnesota Vikings.
Ann will be deeply missed by her daughters, Jovita (Dennis) Mann, Dickinson ND, Carla Bender, Minot ND, Carol (Dean) Weigum, Mandan ND, and Geraldine (Daniel) Miller, Towner ND; sons, David, Mandan ND, Albert, Mandan ND, and Jason ( Kim), Mandan ND; 15 Grandchildren; 18 Great-grandchildren; Brother, Sebastian, Jr. (Helen), Bismarck ND; sisters-in-law, Helen and Rosemary, both of Bismarck ND. Sisters-in-law Geraldine (Harry) Kline, Mandan ND, Eva Bender, Minot ND;
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Albert who passed away in 1990, her parents, grandchild Carissa Bender, brothers, Pius, Anton, and John; and brothers-in-law, Jack Bender, Andy (Irene), and Leonard.
In Lieu of flower memorials are preferred.
