Alvina ‘Viney” Glass, 81, of Mandan, ND passed away December 1, 2024 at her home under the care of hospice.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 10th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan with Fr. Joshua Waltz as celebrant. Burial will follow at 12 Noon at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday at Weigel Funeral Home with a 7:00 PM parish vigil service.
Alvina was born September 3, 1943 in Flasher, ND, a daughter to Casper & Rose (Nagel) Bonogofsky. She grew up in Shields, ND and often spoke of how hard life was growing up there hauling water from the river and picking up coal along the railroad tracks to heat the farm. As a teenager, Alvina worked at Jumbo’s Drive-In & Café in Mandan. She was united in marriage to Joseph Glass on October 27, 1962 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan. Alvina held strong to her Catholic faith and had a daily relationship with God. In 1976, Joe and Alvina started Glass Construction. She was an integral part of the business for many years. She will be missed by those employees that knew her and continue to work for the company. Alvina was a generous and loving person that devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and family members. She enjoyed singing, playing bingo, going to various casinos, and doing word search puzzles. Alvina also enjoyed spending quality time and countless hours smoking her Virginia Slims in her garage! She lived a full life and brought joy, laughter, and pleasure to those who knew her.
Alvina will be deeply missed by her sons, Joe (Paula) Glass of Mandan, & Craig (Janel) Glass of Bismarck; daughters, Sherry Lynn (Allan) Moos of Mandan, Lisa Glass of Mandan, and Nicole Glass of Waxahachie, TX; nine grandchildren, McKayla Moos, Travis Glass, Brianna Herman, Kody Glass, Morgan Herman, Taylor Glass, Cole Glass, Aiden Glass, & Karsten Radermacher; three great grandchildren, Peyton, Greyson, & Jackson Glass; one brother, Vic (Mary) Bonogofsky of Canyon City, CO; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe (in 2012), three brothers (Ed, Tony, & Mike), and three sisters (Tillie, Viola, and infant sister).
