Alvin P. Miller, 65, Raleigh, passed away June 2, 2016 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Raleigh, ND with Rev. Dennis Schafer as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery, following the service.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 6, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary and Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Alvin was born in Flasher, ND, on February 11, 1951, to Peter R. and Amelia (Paul) Miller. He grew up on the family farm in the Raleigh area and graduated in 1970 from St. Gertrude High School. Alvin lived life in a simple way, on the farm, which was what he preferred.
Alvin will be remembered fondly for his great sense of humor. He was outgoing and had many friends. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers; as well as, occasionally traveling to visit with relatives. Alvin was active with several community activities. He especially enjoyed being a member of the Raleigh Bettermen’s Club as well as the Dogtooth Antique Tractor Club. Alvin worked at the Prairie Learning Center at St. Gertrude. He also served on the Raleigh Township Commission Board for many years.
Alvin will be deeply missed by his sister Clara (Roger) Jenkins, Bismarck, ND; brothers, Larry, Omaha, NE, Clarence (Jocelyn), Mandan, ND, Patrick (Bobette), and Vern (Deanna), both of Bismarck, ND; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one sister-in-law Linda.
