Adolf A. Fitterer, 78, Mandan, formerly of Fargo, died October 11, 2014 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 13, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Fr. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bismarck.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 from 12:00-1:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Adolf was the youngest of 13 children born to Adam P. Fitterer and Beata (Meuchel) Fitterer on August 23, 1936 in Glen Ullin, ND. He attended school in Glen Ullin and vocational school in Fargo, ND. He was employed at Rosewood Nursing Home until he retired 1991. His life was his church and sports. He lived in Fargo for 45 years and moved to Edgewood Vista in Mandan in April 2014. In Fargo, he was an active member of the Cathedral of St. Mary’s in Fargo, ND where he had served as an usher for over 40 years. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Adolf spent many hours watching and tracking sports. He was an avid NDSU Bison fan and loved Fargo Red Hawks baseball. Adolf had an incredible memory, remembering player statistics and their family background.
Adolf is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Leingang, Bismarck, Anna Templeton, Portland, OR, Veronica Martin, Portland, OR, and Bertha (Tom) Johnson, Salisbury, MD; one sister-in-law, Wanda Fitterer, Portland, OR; one brother, John Fitterer, Portland, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Adolf was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lena (Mike) Fitterer, Margaret (Robert) Getschman; brothers, Anton (Mary), Pete (Anna), Steve (Pauline), Ralph (Margaret), Lucas; brother-in-laws, Frank Tempelton, Patrick Martin and Anton Leingang.
