Sampson B. Two Shields Jr., 65, of Cannon Ball, passed away June 23, 2022, at his home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Red Gym in Cannon Ball, ND. Burial will be at Big Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. Visitation will continue at the Red Gym on Thursday starting at 10:30 AM.
Sampson was born on October 13, 1956, to Sampson Two Shields Sr. and Victoria Iron Shield in Fort Yates, ND. He lived his childhood years in Cannon Ball, ND and attended Solen High School. Sampson moved to Seattle in the 1970s and then received his GED in Montpelier, ID in 1975. In 1985, he received an Associate of Arts degree in Police Science through United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND.
Sampson married the love of his life, Renee, on May 11, 1978, in San Jose, CA. They had seven children together. In a previous marriage, he was blessed with two children.
Sampson had many jobs throughout his career working as a security guard and police officer. He worked at Prairie Knights Casino as security and maintenance. He was last employed at First Dakota Enterprises in Pierre, SD. He also worked for Standing Rock Game & Fish offering guiding services.
He had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, play horseshoes, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed basketball, football, and softball. While living in Idaho, he was recruited to the Utah State Aggies as a forward position. He loved his Minnesota Vikings! Sampson was a very loving, caring, and humorous guy.
Sampson is survived by his wife, Renee Two Shields; children, Jason (Kelly) Two Shields-Tate, Sammi (Preston) Two Shields-Tate, Shannon (Sheldon) Thunder Hawk, Morgan (Erie) Two Shields, Rhonda (Juan) Two Shields, Jordan Two Shields, Simone (Adrian) Two Shields, and MacKenzie (Tyson) Two Shields; 27 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jeanette Two Shields, Margaret (Allen) Two Shields, and Casper Thunder Hawk Jr; and great-great-grandmother, Mary Louise Defender.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sampson Two Shields Sr. and Victoria Iron Shield; son, Samuel Two Shields; siblings, Arlene Two Shields, Wayne Two Shields, Doug Two Shields, Shirley Two Shields, Vernon Two Shields, Antoinette Two Shields, and Nathan Thunder Hawk.
