Michael Koch

Michael P. Koch, 64, Mandan, passed away August 22, 2017 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 28, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Parish Vigil at 5:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Mike was born on August 21, 1953 to Jeff and Christine (Barth) Koch in Bismarck, ND.  He was raised and educated in Mandan graduating from Mandan High School and then attending NDSU.  Mike married Marilyn Wahl on September 25, 1982 in Mandan.

Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons.  He loved going to his lake cabin at Lake Tschida spending time with family and friends, sitting by the campfire and playing in his new “man cave.”  He enjoyed golfing and playing pinochle.  He loved to travel and spend time with all his family and friends and especially his forever best friend and wife, Marilyn.  He liked going to concerts.  His most favorite recent concert was Blake Shelton in Las Vegas, where his cousin, Victor, had gifted him VIP front row seats and back stage passes.  Mike spoke his mind, but was a man with a very big heart and was loved by all who knew him.  He will be deeply missed by his little dog, Deja, who waits for him daily.  He leaves behind too many friends to mention, but you all know who you are and were all very special to him.  He was a motivated, hardworking and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend.  He loved his sons and grandsons very much and they were the highlight of his life.

Mike was dedicated to his work with his company Koch Construction and he will always leave a blueprint of his memory, with his accomplished visions in and about our city and areas of North Dakota.

Mike will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Marilyn; sons, Shaun (Melodi) Koch, Bismarck, ND, Austin (special friend, Melissa) Koch, Mandan, ND and Nash (Tayla), Mandan, ND; 4 grandchildren that he loved dearly, Kaiden, Ayden, Rylan and Teagan; sisters, Cheryl (Larry) Souther, Mandan, Sandy Hay, Minneapolis, MN and Krislyn Thompson, Bismarck, ND; brothers, Barry (Jocelyn) Koch, Mandan, ND, Greg Koch, Mandan, ND and Blair (Ann) Koch, Chicago, ND; father-in-law, Jerry (Donna) Wahl; sister-in-law, Nancy Koch;  brother-in-law, Calvin Wahl along with many  nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; Jeff and Christine Koch; brother, Pat Koch and mother-in-law, Phyllis Wahl.

Dear Grandpa,

We went fishing the other day and caught  big fish.  You would have been so proud of us.  We used what you taught us.  You will be forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
