Matt was born September 11, 1979 in Bismarck. He was raised on his family's farm north of Mandan. Matt obtained a strong work ethic at an early age and took pride in the work he did around the farm. He was especially fond of the Blue Roan cattle he helped raise from birth.
Matt's skills didn't stop at farming; he also learned the trade of carpentry from his dad. Matt worked for the family contracting company, Boehm Builders as a carpenter and took over the business in 2013. He had numerous repeat clients, in part because of skill but also due to his friendly nature.
On June 14th, 2003, Matt married Kaycee Taylor. Together they raised three daughters, who were Matt’s “girl squirrels”. With his family's help, Matt made sure the girls had some of the same experiences on the farm as he did, including gardening, playing on hay bales and catching kittens.
Matt made friends wherever he went and was always good for making off the cuff remarks. He could talk fishing with anyone who would engage and dedicated his free time to fishing on the Missouri River and at the Tail Race in the Garrison Dam. He participated in several fishing tournaments each year and was a part of the ND Whopper Club. Matt also enjoyed hunting, playing pinochle, gardening, and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers.
Family meant the world to Matt. As one of ten children in his family, he grew to be dependable in lending a hand to those he cared about and brought his fun loving nature to their parties and events. Matt was a devoted father and took great pride in his daughter's accomplishments, attending all of their band and choir concerts, as well as their marching band events. He always knew how to make his family laugh by coming up with new words, phrases, and how he expressed himself. Matt shared his love for fishing with his girls, which are some of their favorite memories with their dad.
Matt is survived by his wife, Kaycee; daughters, Madelyn (21), Avery (19), Stella (16); mother, Joan Boehm; siblings, Ernest (Wei), Becky (Greg) Maki, Keith (Gretchen), Cindy (Damien) Seese, Paula (Jeremy) Taylor, Sarah, Amanda (Bjorn) Sorgaard, Emilee (Brian) Anderson, Melissa (Jeremy) Hansen; 17 nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Kelley Taylor and her daughter, Laenna; mother-in-law, Sally (John) Wolf; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest J. Boehm; father-in-law, Michael L. Taylor; sister-in-law, Kristin Taylor; brother-in-law, Corry Taylor; uncles, Matt Boehm Jr. and William Boehm; and aunts, Donna Kraft and Marlane (Loeb) Peterson; grandparents, Teanus & Elizabeth Loeb and Mathias and Emma Boehm.
