Mark was born June 2, 1964 in Bismarck, ND at St. Alexius Hospital to Joseph and Clotilda (Tillie Harsche) Dilger. He was raised in Bismarck and went to Northridge Elementary, Hughes Junior High and Century High School. After High School he attended the electrical program at Wahpeton State School of Science. He had various jobs throughout the years in the construction and electrical fields.
Mark enjoyed his childhood with his siblings and the many friends on Shady Lane. They had fun playing kick the can, anti-I-over, swimming at the public pool, riding bike, and all the wonderful activities of his childhood. He had fond memories of the family vacations (Washington state to visit family, Disneyland, Marineland, Knotts Berry Farm, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and all the fun activities in South Dakota, etc.) Growing up he spent much time at his Grandpa Henry’s and Uncle Tony’s farms with family and made many wonderful memories.
Mark enjoyed hunting, outdoor activities, listening to music, reading and tinkering in the garage with his father. Family time on the river, camping, fish fry’s and all our many family-get-togethers were very precious to Mark. One of his favorite family activities was eating mom’s wonderful cooking, especially German foods, butchering, and making sausage with his father and family.
On Good Friday thirty-six years ago, Mark suffered a severe brain hemorrhage and was in a coma for several weeks. That brain injury greatly affected the rest of his life. He passed away exactly 36 years later on Easter Weekend. Our family finds comfort knowing that Mark loved his Lord and Savior and is now in God’s presence.
Mark gave his life to the Lord in 1991 and his faith in God helped him through many difficult times. Daily he would read from his “Jesus Always” book and shared it with his Mother.
Mark is survived by his parents, Joseph and Clotilda Dilger; brother, Kurt Dilger; sister, Constance (Don) Keller; nephew, Brandon Keller; niece, Alexa (Trever) Uhlman; great nieces, Elara and Orianna Uhlman; many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his supportive and dear friend, Jonnie Suess.
Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Henry and Brigitta (Klein) Harsche; paternal grandparents, Fred and Anna (Glasser) Dilger; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
We were blessed to have Mark in our lives, and he will forever be loved, missed and remembered.
